Magic Moments

Magic Moments is a research study and a project intended to develop a network of kiosques in the city of Florence. With its focus on the fascination of food and on the power of food to create situations and relationships, the Magic Moments network encourages people to congregate within the town of Florence and re-animate these tiny food kiosques.
Several food kiosques are connected by the Magic Moments network and become spaces for social rituals open to all, areas for meeting and creating, enhancing the importance of daily habits in the structure of the city.
The kiosk, ancient structure for serving street food, becomes micro-architecture with great add-on potential, it becomes an urban meeting place through the creation of a strategy that evolves in three stages.
The first stage is a websites network, the second a mini-zine and the third is the mapping of platforms, physical spaces next to the kiosques to be used for temporary activities and events.
The creative strategy includes also some “actions” - design activities that directly impact on the kiosk’s structure reinforcing its image, its functionality and its add-on abilities for one or more specific themes.
These “actions” come out of an analysis of the do-it-yourself creations of street-vendors, and are inspired by the self-organising quality of their artefacts.
