Worldchanging

Alex Steffen and Sarah Rich are the editors of Worldchanging (Executive and Managing, respectively). On their website, Worldchanging.com, and in their recently released book, Worldchanging: A User's Guide for the 21st Century, they -- along with a global team of contributors and collaborators -- explore and highlight emerging innovations for building a sustainable future. Worldchanging is about solutions; problems only get attention at Worldchanging to the extent it is necessary to explain and contextualize a particular new model or idea for doing better.

As such, for DOORS Food + Juice, Alex and Sarah will be examining some solutions and practical foresight for food systems in an increasingly globalized and climate changing world. The project will look at several things: the way that people engage with, obtain and understand the food they eat; some possibilities for applying local models to global systems (such as the application of a CSA distribution model for food grown and purchased at long distances -- tropical fruit in the U.S., etc); and how we can preserve biodiversity, save seeds and promote traditional local agricultural in the midst of an environmental crisis that will likely completely alter what grows where. How can we be adaptable to changing conditions while still being prudent about conserving and protecting what we have?
